The Intervale
Part of the larger Burlington Wildways system, the Intervale features lovely flat trails along the Winooski river, passing through local farmland and community gardens. These beginner-friendly trails feature lush green forests that are a habitat for local wildlife, native plants, and migratory birds.
The wildway system links Salmon Hole, the Intervale, and Ethan Allen park - providing options for many distances. From the Old Northe End, linking the Intervale and the Rt. 127 bike path makes a great 10K option. Taking on Salmon Hole (the Wildways route below) brings it closer to 8 miles.
Route: Intervale Loop (3.2 mi)
Route: Taco Gordo 10K (6.2 mi)
Route: Burlington Wildways (7.7 mi)
Post-Run: Can you say “spicy margs”? Taco Gordo makes an excellent post-run destination, as do may of the Riverside Ave and Old North End restaurants. A few other faves include Pho Hong (perfect hot pho for a cold winter run), Kismayo Kitchen (swoonworthy protein + carb combos), and Barrio Bakery for those early morning runners.
